A major bluechip main contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join the team on a landmark education development project in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile, technically challenging scheme delivering state-of-the-art facilities within the Department for Education sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing packages and coordinating site operations through key phases of the build, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of site activities and subcontractors
- Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained at all times
- Driving programme and quality performance across assigned work areas
- Coordinating trades, logistics, and site sequencing
- Liaising with project management, design teams, and client representatives
- Managing inspections, QA processes, and site documentation
- Supporting delivery in line with DfE standards and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Site Manager for a Tier 1 Contractor
- Strong background delivering major construction projects
- Previous experience on large-scale education / DfE school projects is essential
- Excellent knowledge of health & safety and site coordination
- Ability to manage multiple subcontract packages simultaneously
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certifications required
