A regional house builder who delivers high-quality, sustainable homes and has built a strong reputation for craftsmanship and innovation has a requirement for a Civil/Engineering Manager to join their team to play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure on residential developments, ensuring all work complies with current regulations and is delivered on time and within budget.
The company delivers new build housing development on complex developments which include split levels, retaining structures, and tiered gardens.
Working across multiple live developments in the region, you will be involved with identifying design issues and challenging levels affecting part M regulations. You will oversee the design and construction of essential civil infrastructure, including highways, drainage systems, retaining walls, and spoil management, collaborating with the technical team, consulting engineers, and the construction team.
Duties to include:
- Work closely with the technical team and Consulting Engineers to develop and review designs for highways, drainage systems, retaining walls, and other civil infrastructure.
- Oversee and coordinate groundworks activities on site, ensuring they meet project specifications and timelines.
- Provide site teams and surveyors with setting out information.
- Manage spoil on-site, including planning for efficient handling, storage, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
- Monitor the progress and quality of groundworkers' activities, addressing any issues promptly to ensure high standards and control of costs at all times.
- Liaise with Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and other key stakeholders to integrate civil works into the overall project plan.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout all stages of civil works, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the site team, ensuring all construction activities align with engineering designs and standards.
- Manage budgets, resources, and schedules related to civil engineering works.
- Manage and progress all section agreements, S278, S104, S38 etc.
Role requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in residential or housing development projects.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure design, drainage systems, and groundworks.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design software (e.g., MicroDrainage).
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
