You’ll be joining a major airfield resurfacing and infrastructure programme near Witney, Oxford, supporting the delivery of a high‑profile operational upgrade scheme within a live and highly regulated environment. This is a step‑up role suited to an experienced Engineer looking for more responsibility without moving fully into Senior Engineer level. You’ll play a key role overseeing multiple subcontractors delivering large packages of works across the programme, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are maintained throughout. The project will involve complex sequencing, tight deadlines, and a collaborative approach with delivery teams working across days, nights, and weekend shifts to maintain programme milestones.
Responsibilities for Section Engineer
- Oversee multiple subcontractors delivering surfacing, civils, and infrastructure packages
- Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements
- Coordinate site activities and support engineering and management teams across the project
- Maintain QA records, permits, site documentation, and as‑built information
- Monitor health & safety standards and ensure compliance across all work fronts
- Assist with planning and sequencing works within a live operational environment
- Support delivery teams during day shifts, night shifts, and weekend working where required
Requirements for Section Engineer
- CSCS Card
- HND, Degree, or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience working on large infrastructure, highways, aviation, or heavy civils projects
- Strong subcontractor management and coordination experience
- Competent with site documentation, QA procedures, and setting out principles
- Able to work within fast‑paced operational environments and demanding programmes
