The Sales Director is a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for leading the commercial and client-facing functions of the business, including account management, business development, customer service, and design. The Sales Director will drive strategic relationships, develop new business opportunities, and oversee the sales handover process to operations to secure profitable shopfitting and fit-out projects. The role is pivotal in aligning sales with the company's commercial objectives, customer expectations, and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Group Managing Director and senior leadership team on strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational development.
- Develop and implement the company's overall sales strategy to deliver the company's growth, profitability and strategic goals.
- Translate the business strategy into clear sales, estimating, design and customer services objectives, performance targets (KPIs), and resource plans.
- Monitor and evaluate sales risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales and business development strategy to achieve revenue growth targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial, retail, hospitality, and industrial fit-out sectors.
- Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline and oversee all tenders' submissions.
- Lead negotiations and secure major contracts, ensuring alignment with company profitability targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Oversee post-project reviews and implementations of learnings in conjunction with the Operations Director.
- Work closely with the design team to ensure proposals are innovative, functional, and aligned with client budgets and expectations.
- Balance creative and commercial priorities to deliver value-engineered solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team across sales, customer services, and design functions to deliver high performance and sales excellence.
- Set clear objectives, performance metrics (KPIs), and training programs to build team capability, succession planning and fostering accountability and professional growth.
- Contribute to the overall business plan, departmental budgets, forecasts including sales and gross margin plus overhead/department costs.
- Manage sales budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with financial targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (MBA desirable).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales or business development within the fit-out or construction sector.
- Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary teams and securing major contracts.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, project costing tools, and estimating software.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, cost structures, and business planning.
- Demonstrated ability to implement sales strategy and lead change.
- Commitment to client long term relationships, superior customer satisfaction, value creation.
