Opportunity for an Assistant Estimator with 2 years experience or more, to join a Main Contractor based in the Suffolk area. This is an office-based role with travel across East Anglia, Southeast & Midlands for site visits.

About the role of Assistant Estimator: We are a main Contractor based in the Suffolk area but also have other branches across the UK. Our works are for the Groups national repeat clients in the retail & leisure sectors. The projects on the retail side are generally store refurbishment/fit outs, along with the leisure projects being extensions & conversions for a popular hotel chain and range up to £40m in value. Most of our works come from frameworks we have with our clients, so a large proportion of works is negotiated and therefore means we need someone who will be confident enough to establish long term relationships with clients/consultants and subcontractors/suppliers.

As Assistant Estimator, you will be working alongside a team of 3 other Estimators, and 1 trainee. The business as a whole is quite large, with roughly 650 members of staff across the board, and 40 in the Suffolk office where you will be based. You will be working with a lot of people who have been with the business for 10+ years, so will be able to offer you great training/support to put you in the best position for skill development and promotions. This is an exciting role for someone looking to continue their career in Estimating and interested in progressing to an Estimator in the future. We have sites across East Anglia, Southeast & the Midlands, so the candidate will need to be prepared to travel sometimes for site visits, with expenses covered.

Responsibilities for Assistant Estimator:

  • Analyse and review tender documents, contracts, and project specifications
  • Supply chain management
  • Conduct site visits and gather information to inform Estimates
  • Develop & maintain relationships with clients/consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Liaising with the Project Manager and Contracts manager on programmes

  • 2-5 years experience in Estimating
  • Some experience across retail or leisure sectors (preferred)
  • Hard working & good work ethic
  • Able to work as a team & independently
  • Drivers licence
  • Within commutable distance to Suffolk area
  • Experience in construction industry
