Duration: 20 weeks

We are looking for a Freelance Design Manager for our client based from the Warrington office. This is for a main contractor on a MOD fire improvements project; security clearance is not essential as the contractor can put you through the clearance.

Key Responsibilities of the Freelance Design Manager:

  • Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to delivery.
  • Ensure design information is delivered on time to meet programme requirements.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant fire safety legislations.
  • Coordinate fire strategies, compartmentation plans and passive/active fire protective systems.
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, security standards, and buildability.
  • Lead design team meetings and manage the flow of information between stakeholders.
  • Work closely with site and commercial teams to resolve design issues and maintain project progress.
  • Ensure design solutions meet MOD and secure facility requirements.

Required Qualifications/Experience as a Freelance Design Manager:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction sector.
  • Experience delivering secure government, defence, custodial, or highly regulated projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of design coordination and technical compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple consultants and maintain design programmes.
