Opportunity for a Building Services Engineering Manager to join a Tier 1 main contractor supporting delivery across major construction projects within their London portfolio. Working alongside experienced operational and technical teams, you will play a key role in driving engineering excellence and ensuring successful building services delivery from pre-construction through to completion. This position would suit a proactive and technically strong professional who enjoys managing complex interfaces, collaborating across disciplines and delivering projects to the highest standards of quality, programme and client satisfaction.

About the role

Our client is seeking a Building Services Engineering Manager to oversee the coordination, management and delivery of building services across major projects. Reporting into senior project leadership, you will provide technical direction and ensure mechanical, electrical and public health systems are integrated effectively throughout design, construction, commissioning and handover stages. You will work closely with design consultants, subcontractors, project delivery teams and commercial stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead building services engineering delivery across project lifecycle stages from pre-construction through to handover
  • Manage MEP design coordination and technical integration across multidisciplinary teams
  • Review engineering solutions to ensure compliance, buildability and value optimisation opportunities
  • Coordinate consultants, specialist subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Support project planning, sequencing and programme delivery requirements
  • Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure technical standards are achieved
  • Drive commissioning readiness and oversee testing and handover activities
  • Identify, manage and mitigate engineering and delivery risks
  • Support procurement activities and technical package reviews
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Promote innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement across project delivery

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Building Services Engineering Manager, Technical Services Manager or senior MEP delivery role
  • Strong background delivering complex construction projects within commercial, infrastructure, healthcare or large-scale developments
  • Demonstrated experience managing MEP design and construction coordination
  • Good understanding of commissioning, QA/QC and handover processes
  • Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical and building services systems
  • Ability to manage programme, quality and technical risk effectively
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Relevant qualification in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership advantageous
  • SMSTS and CSCS desirable
