Opportunity for a Building Services Engineer to join a leading main contractor delivering high‑quality commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects across London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering premium CAT A and CAT B office fit‑outs, refurbishments and complex construction projects for a prestigious client base.
Working alongside experienced operational and technical teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services from design through to project completion.
This position would suit a proactive Building Services Engineer who enjoys working within fast‑paced project environments, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and contributing to the successful delivery of technically challenging projects.
About the role
Our client is seeking a Building Services Engineer to support the management and coordination of MEP services across a range of commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects throughout London.
Reporting to the Senior Building Services Manager, the successful candidate will assist with design coordination, technical reviews, installation management, commissioning activities and project handover, ensuring building services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and quality expectations.
Working closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors and commercial teams, the Building Services Engineer will provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services from pre‑construction through to project completion.
- Coordinate MEP subcontractors and consultants to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
- Review technical drawings and identify coordination, buildability and value engineering opportunities.
- Monitor the quality of MEP installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Assist with planning, sequencing and progress monitoring of building services works.
- Support technical reviews, RFIs and design development throughout the construction process.
- Coordinate interfaces between MEP trades and the wider construction team.
- Assist with testing, commissioning and client handover activities.
- Maintain QA/QC documentation and support project close‑out procedures.
- Identify technical risks and work with project teams to implement effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Promote health, safety and continuous improvement across all aspects of project delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Building Services Engineer, MEP Engineer or Building Services Coordinator within the construction industry.
- Experience delivering commercial fit‑out, refurbishment or new build projects.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and public health building services systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and coordinate design information across multiple disciplines.
- Experience working with subcontractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of commissioning, QA/QC and project handover processes.
- Strong organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach to project delivery.
- Relevant qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
- CSCS card desirable.
