Fawkes & Reece are recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our valued clients, a leading main contractor with a strong regional presence. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with a background working for Tier 1 contractors, looking to take on a key leadership role across multiple high-value projects.

The Role

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take overall commercial responsibility for three projects located in and around Bristol and the wider Somerset area, with project values of approximately £30m and £70m. You will oversee and support Senior Quantity Surveyors on each site, who will report directly into you, ensuring robust commercial management and successful project delivery across all schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial function across multiple construction projects
  • Manage, mentor, and support Senior Quantity Surveyors and site teams
  • Ensure accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control
  • Safeguard the company’s contractual and commercial position
  • Oversee subcontract procurement, administration, and final accounts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain
  • Contribute to strategic and regional commercial decision-making

Requirements

  • Proven experience working for Tier 1 or leading main contractors
  • Strong background in general construction (not solely housebuilding)
  • Experience delivering or overseeing large-scale projects (£30m+)
  • Previous experience in a Managing QS or Senior QS leadership role
  • Strong commercial acumen and contractual knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
