Overview
The Team: We are a small, experienced product and engineering team building a new data-heavy web application alongside our existing platform. We value trust, pragmatism and quality, and we care deeply about building things that are understandable, maintainable and genuinely useful. We are looking to strengthen our frontend engineering capacity so we can move faster without compromising standards. We champion remote development with staff based around all the UK and have flexible working hours including time for self-development.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to take ownership of building and evolving a modern React and Next.js application. You will be responsible for wiring well-designed UI components into a production-grade application, working across routing, data fetching, state management, caching and client-server interactions. You’ll work closely with backend engineers to shape APIs and data contracts, and with design-focused engineers to ensure a high bar for UX and accessibility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working “close to the metal” of a frontend application, understands how frontend decisions affect performance, reliability and developer velocity, and can help establish good patterns that others can follow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building and maintaining a React and Next.js application using modern patterns.
- Integrating frontend components with backend APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
- Owning client-side concerns such as routing, data fetching, caching, sessions and auth flows.
- Implementing complex, data-rich UI views and dashboards.
- Working with design engineers helping to maintain a Storybook of components.
- Collaborating with backend engineers to define and evolve APIs.
- Improving frontend testing, CI and deployment workflows.
- Helping to set standards and patterns that manage complexity over time.
The Person
- Strong experience building production React applications.
- Solid working knowledge of Next.js and modern frontend architecture.
- Comfortable working with data-heavy UIs and asynchronous data flows.
- Experience integrating with APIs (ideally including GraphQL).
- Strong understanding of performance, caching and client-server boundaries.
- Pragmatic approach to testing, maintainability and code quality.
- Able to work independently and take responsibility for significant parts of the system.
- Comfortable collaborating across disciplines and explaining technical decisions clearly.
Details And Benefits
- Salary up to 75k depending on experience.
- The role is full-time, permanent, 40 hrs per week Monday–Friday.
- Work completely remotely, or use our Manchester office when you see fit.
- Flexible working hours.
- 30 days paid holidays plus bank holidays.
- Company pension.
- Profit share bonus.
- Quarterly Team days.
- High-spec laptops (Mac or Linux) and home office budget.
Our Values
- Passion and persistence - We’re focused, committed and excited by our direction & goals.
- Create something meaningful - We’re proud of the impact we make.
- Always learning - We constantly learn and improve as a result of our experiences.
- Helping others - We grow the team by helping others.
- Open & honest - We build trust through open and honest relationships.
- Balance - We look after ourselves so we can give our best.
- Positivity - We take the positives from any situation.
