Fathm is seeking a freelance Podcast Producer to support the ongoing production of The Signal, a weekly podcast recorded on a fortnightly basis. The Signal is a new podcast focusing on journalism, media and technology for industry leaders and those following the latest developments across these areas of interest.
The Podcast Producer is responsible for the operational and editorial coordination of the podcast. The role ensures that recordings run smoothly, editorial decisions are clear, and contributors involved in postâproduction and promotion have the direction they need. This role involves working closely with the podcast presenters, the Podcast Editor, and the Marketing and Comms Lead.
This is predominantly a remote contractor role to provide services for the equivalent of half a day per podcast episode, and you will need to be based in or around London to travel into London for recordings. You must have the legal right to work in the UK, and should have access to a suitable professional workspace with a reliable internet connection, as well as the ability to work independently and securely.
Requirements- Coordinate and manage the end-to-end production process for the podcast, acting as the main point of contact for studio bookings, presenters, guests and internal stakeholders, and ensuring recordings run smoothly.
- Manage the recording and release schedule to support a consistent weekly drop from fortnightly recordings, coordinating the resolution of any issues that could affect quality, timing, or delivery.
- Plan and run regular production meetings and debriefs with the presenters to shape episode focus, structure, stories to cover, guest involvement, quality, and ongoing improvements.
- Source and book guests as required, in line with agreed priorities and episode focus.
- Apply editorial judgement to each episode, providing light scripting or prompting when needed and acting as the editorial decision point for postâproduction queries and guiding editing decisions.
- Work closely with the Podcast Editor and Marketing & Comms Lead, including producing a concise postârecording content brief, to support effective editing, communications and a smooth endâtoâend production process.
- Proven experience producing podcasts or comparable audioâled content, with responsibility for operational coordination and editorial decisionâmaking.
- Successful experience managing recording and release schedules and working to regular production cycles.
- Ability to plan and run production meetings, shaping episode focus and structure in collaboration with presenters.
- Experience sourcing, briefing and coordinating guests for recorded content.
- Strong editorial judgement, with the ability to guide postâproduction decisions and provide clear direction to editors and communications colleagues.
- Experience providing light scripting, prompts or structure to support recorded discussions where appropriate.
- Ability to act as a clear point of contact and decisionâmaker across contributors, managing handovers and resolving issues as they arise.
- Capable of working independently as a contractor, managing time effectively while working closely with a small internal team.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail and followâthrough.
- Experience working on discussionâor interviewâled podcasts, or in a small organisation or consultancy environment, would be an advantage.
- An interest in news, journalism or corporate communications is useful but not essential.
