We're working to recruit a Structural Design Engineer to join our clients Mooring Products division. This is a great opportunity for an experienced offshore structural engineer to work on the design, analysis and verification of specialist mooring products and equipment, with exposure to technically challenging projects.
The Role
- Structural analysis and design of mooring products, equipment and associated components
- Developing advanced nonlinear FEA models
- Plastic-strain assessments for ultimate strength, accidental load cases and fatigue-critical details
- Assessing structures under extreme environmental and operational loading
- Supporting fitness-for-service, structural integrity and defect assessments
- Producing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation
- Supporting design reviews, hazard studies and client meetings
- Working collaboratively across naval architecture, geotechnical, fabrication and installation teams
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant offshore standards and client specifications
What They're Looking For
Essential:
- Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Offshore Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years' relevant offshore structural engineering experience
- Strong experience with plastic-strain analysis and offshore structural assessment
- Strong understanding of nonlinear FEA, including material plasticity, geometric nonlinearity, large deformation and post-yield behaviour
- Experience with structural analysis software and 3D CAD
- Knowledge of offshore standards including API RP 2A / 2SIM, ISO 19902 and DNV
Desirable:
- ABAQUS or ANSYS experience
- SolidWorks or Inventor experience
