I have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join a leading global yacht management company, in their Southampton office. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical management of a fleet of yachts, working closely with Captains, Chief Engineers, crew, Yacht Managers, and the wider company to ensure each vessel is maintained and operated to the highest standards.
- Ensure assigned yachts comply with Class, Flag State, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with Captains, Chief Engineers, crew, Yacht Managers, and the company DPA to monitor the technical condition and performance of each yacht.
- Oversee technical maintenance across mechanical, electrical, safety, environmental, LSA, and navigational systems.
- Manage and support Planned Maintenance Systems, technical inspections, audits, and yacht visits, ensuring deficiencies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Provide technical advice and remote support to onboard teams, coordinating with contractors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
- Support technical purchasing, supplier management, invoice review, budgeting, and monitoring of technical expenditure.
- Assist with refit, drydock, and technical upgrade projects, from specification through to completion.
- Support emergency preparedness, 24/7 technical response, and the identification and mitigation of potential technical risks.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's yacht management technical services.
Shore-based experience as a Technical Manager, Technical Superintendent, or in a similar technical management role is required. Yacht experience is preferred; however, candidates with relevant technical management experience across other passenger vessel types will also be considered.
- Strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical vessel systems.
- Experience with planned maintenance systems, technical inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience with shipyard refits, drydockings, or technical projects.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, purchasing, and technical budgets.
- Strong understanding of Class, Flag State, and regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to travel regularly to visit the fleet.
- Dynamic, approachable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with both onboard and shore-based teams.
