This is an excellent opportunity for a maritime professional looking to transition ashore, or for someone already working within Flag State, Class, or ship management who is looking for a technically varied role with genuine long-term career development.

As Technical Officer, you'll play a key role in ensuring vessels remain compliant with international maritime regulations and Flag State requirements. You'll work closely with shipowners, Recognised Organisations, surveyors and international authorities, providing technical guidance and supporting the safe operation of a diverse fleet.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring vessel compliance with Flag State and international regulations.
  • Reviewing and managing Port State and Flag State inspection deficiencies.
  • Providing technical advice to shipowners, Recognised Organisations and surveyors.
  • Liaising with maritime administrations, Port State Control authorities and industry stakeholders.
  • Supporting emergency response activities.
  • Authorising statutory certification within delegated authority.
  • Participating in international maritime working groups where required.
  • Supporting the organisation's quality management system and technical procedures.

About You

You'll ideally have:

  • A degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline; or
  • A Certificate of Competency with seagoing experience as a Deck or Engine Officer.

Along with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Ship Classification or statutory surveys
  • Sailing as a certificated watchkeeping officer
  • Technical Superintendent or Technical Management
  • Ship Management
  • Flag State or Maritime Administration

You'll also possess:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and analytical abilities.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Good IT skills.
  • The unrestricted right to work in the UK.
