Overview
In this role you will oversee the safe, efficient management of assigned vessels, ensuring technical compliance and optimal performance. You will coordinate with onboard teams, service providers, and regulators to maintain high safety, reliability and environmental standards. You will lead maintenance planning, budget management, and vessel performance analysis to drive cost-effective operations. This position offers impact across the fleet, with a focus on operational excellence, data-driven decision making and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Manage daily technical operations of assigned vessels
- Serve as the shore-based point of contact for technical matters
- Monitor performance via KPI analysis and regular reporting
- Implement procedures, maintenance programmes and TM systems
- Review reports and address technical, maintenance and operational issues promptly
- Analyse data to inform operational decisions
- Maintain data integrity in PMS and other platforms
- Develop and execute technical/operational plans for compliance and reliability
- Plan and supervise repairs, inspections, surveys and dry dock projects
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets
- Conduct vessel visits to assess condition, safety and environmental compliance
- Liaise with management teams on work plans, spares, performance and budget
- Investigate failures and implement corrective actions
- Review procurement for parts and services
- Support supplier evaluation and vendor management
- Collaborate with classification societies and external stakeholders
- Ensure statutory, class and company compliance
- Support emergency response and technical incident management
- Manage damage reports and related insurance matters
- Mentor and develop engineering officers
- Participate in pre-purchase inspections and due diligence
- Contribute technical expertise to fleet development and acquisitions
- Undertake additional duties as required
Key requirements
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or related maritime discipline
- CoC preferred (Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency)
- Strong knowledge of vessel technical management, maintenance planning and budgeting
- Previous Vessel Manager / Technical Superintendent experience
- Minimum two years in a shore-based role
- Seagoing experience as Chief Engineer on oceangoing vessels
- Experience with container vessels preferred, with knowledge of dry dockings and major maintenance
- Experience with LNG, methanol, dual-fuel or alternative-fuel vessels advantageous
- Proficiency with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS)
