Overview

In this role you lead the technical management of a fleet of yachts from the Southampton office, collaborating with captains, engineers and shore teams to ensure vessels meet high standards of maintenance and compliance. You drive technical integrity across systems, support planned maintenance, and coordinate upgrades and refits. You will also steer risk management, emergency readiness, and contractor engagement while enabling cross-functional collaboration. This position offers a global yacht management context with a hybrid working model and a focus on delivering reliable, regulation-compliant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure yachts comply with Class, Flag State, regulatory and company requirements
  • Maintain relationships with Captains, Chief Engineers, crew, Yacht Managers and DPA to monitor technical condition
  • Oversee maintenance across mechanical, electrical, safety, environmental, LSA, and navigational systems
  • Manage Planned Maintenance Systems, inspections, audits and visits, addressing deficiencies promptly
  • Provide technical advice and remote support to onboard teams, coordinating with contractors
  • Support technical purchasing, supplier management, invoicing, budgeting and expenditure monitoring
  • Assist with refits, drydocks and technical upgrade projects from specification to completion
  • Support emergency preparedness, 24/7 technical response and risk mitigation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of yacht management technical services

Key requirements

  • Shore-based Technical Manager or similar technical leadership experience
  • Previous onboard experience in a senior engineering role
  • Yacht experience preferred; relevant technical management in other passenger vessels considered
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical vessel systems
  • Experience with planned maintenance, inspections, audits and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with shipyard refits, drydockings or technical projects
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, purchasing and budgets
  • Understanding of Class and Flag State regulatory requirements
  • Right to live and work in the UK
