Overview
As an experienced maritime HSEQ professional, you will guide shipboard and shore operations to uphold ISM, ISO, and TMSA standards while driving safety and risk management. You will partner with fleet and office teams to implement policies, support audits, investigations, and training, and promote continuous improvement. This role blends compliance, performance monitoring, and practical guidance to strengthen HSEQ across the organisation. The position anchors Clydebank operations and offers an opportunity to shape safety culture and certification readiness.

Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with ISM Code, ISO standards, TMSA requirements and Company SMS
- Support implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of HSEQ policies and procedures
- Interpret and advise on flag state, classification society and regulatory requirements
- Plan and conduct internal shipboard and office audits
- Support external audits, inspections and verification activities
- Investigate incidents, near misses and undesired events; determine root causes and corrective actions
- Analyse safety, environmental and operational data to identify trends
- Prepare HSEQ performance reports and management information
- Provide HSEQ guidance to fleet groups and vessels
- Deliver HSEQ inductions, briefings and training for shipboard and shore personnel
- Support development of positive safety culture and communicate safety initiatives and lessons learned
- Assist with emergency drills and Casualty Response Team participation
- Provide HSEQ input into new business tenders and proposals
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across fleet and office operations
Key requirements
- HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Deck or Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency, Class II
- IRCA Lead Auditor qualification
- NEBOSH Diploma or Diploma in Safety Management
- Previous HSEQ or compliance experience in maritime or shipping
- Strong knowledge of ISM Code, ISO standards and TMSA requirements
- Demonstrable auditing experience and ability to support compliance activities
- Experience investigating incidents and analysing safety performance data
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
