Overview

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial oversight of major port development and infrastructure projects for a leading ferry operator. You’ll partner with project managers, contractors and senior stakeholders to drive budgeting, cost control and contract management, ensuring investments deliver long-term value. You will shape commercial decisions, manage risks and champion procurement activities across UK and Ireland projects. This role blends strategic insight with hands-on financial leadership in a dynamic capital-project environment. You’ll join a respected, international operator at a pivotal moment for port infrastructure growth.

Responsibilities

  • Managing commercial aspects of major capital projects
  • Driving capital planning, budgeting and investment approval processes
  • Monitoring expenditure against approved budgets
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and cost variances
  • Managing contracts, change control, claims and final accounts
  • Supporting procurement activities, tender evaluations and contractor selection
  • Preparing commercial reports and updates for senior leadership teams
  • Providing commercial insight to support strategic investment decisions

Key requirements

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying or Contract Administration
  • Strong understanding of cost control, budget management and financial reporting within capital project environments
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract management principles
  • Experience working with NEC contracts, ideally NEC ECC
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills
  • Ability to influence and build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as required
