Overview
In this role, you apply independent DP expertise to support offshore energy and marine projects from a shore-based position. You work with vessel owners, operators and offshore stakeholders to ensure DP reliability, risk control and operational readiness. You’ll contribute to trials, assessments and technical reporting that shape project outcomes and safety. This position offers exposure to complex DP projects, global assignments and strong professional development in a respected marine team.

Responsibilities
- Attend offshore vessels as an independent technical witness during DP trials
- Review and develop DP FMEA studies
- Review and author DP proving trials programmes per industry guidance
- Assess vessel DP capability, redundancy concepts, and operational risks
- Support marine risk assessments and SIMOPS evaluations
- Develop technical reports, procedures, and client deliverables
- Provide technical input during vessel projects, upgrades, and operational activities
- Represent clients during offshore and international assignments
Key requirements
- Strong marine engineering background from offshore vessels
- Experience as a Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, or senior marine engineer
- Practical Dynamic Positioning experience
- Experience with DP Class 2 or DP Class 3 vessels
- Knowledge of DP FMEA processes and proving trials
- Understanding of marine regulatory requirements, class rules, and industry standards
- Experience with IMCA guidance (M190/M191 knowledge desirable)
