Fastmarkets’ data is critical for customers who need to understand and predict dynamic, sometimes opaque markets, enabling trading and risk‑management. Aligned with Fastmarkets’ vision of being customer‑centric, the Strategic Industry Expert (SIE) is a key commercial role focused on deepening the understanding of our largest customers’ strategic priorities. The SIE works closely with sales and product teams to position our commodity exchange data offerings, leads external customer engagement, and tailors solutions to specific use‑cases.

Key Responsibilities

Pre‑sales

  • Identify targeted prospects within our customer base for high relevance exchange‑data clients.
  • Co‑lead customer interactions with sales teams to present exchange‑data solutions and address customer needs for specific use‑cases.
  • Maintain strong relationships with exchange‑data clients to ensure satisfaction and identify upsell opportunities.
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to understand client requirements and design tailored exchange‑data solutions.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients.
  • Translate complex data delivery and integration requirements into clear, actionable solution proposals (co‑led with sales teams).
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert on exchange‑data licensing, entitlements, and delivery mechanisms.

Post‑sales & collaboration

  • Lead onboarding and implementation of exchange‑data solutions for new clients.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during integration, ensuring smooth data delivery and compliance with licensing terms.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance to ensure solutions meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development of scalable sales‑enablement materials to position exchange‑data solutions with customers at scale.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • 5–10+ years of experience with LME exchange data – likely but not limited to junior trading, exchange operations or exchange data sales roles.
  • Commercial acumen to understand the relevance and criticality of exchange‑data offerings in specific customer contexts.
  • Strong understanding of exchange‑data customer workflows and the application of exchange‑data in specific use‑cases.
  • Ability to position our offerings with a differentiated value proposition.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven success in one‑on‑one and large group presentations.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; a true team player with the ability to work effectively across departments, particularly with product teams.
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good to have: understanding of sales processes for market/data‑intelligence products and proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
