Overview
In this newly created role you lead solution architecture and technical strategy for Product Engineering, shaping standards and scalable, secure delivery. You will partner to drive AI-enabled PDLC and cross-organisation best practices across Product Engineering, Data & AI, and Cloud Engineering. The role blends hands-on architectural leadership with defining a specialist career pathway and embedding into delivery teams when needed. You’ll work with senior stakeholders to align architectural decisions and technical dependencies, influencing long-term technical health and governance. This is a chance to shape Fastmarkets’ technical direction and enable high-impact AI-enabled product delivery.

Responsibilities
- Own solution architecture and technical strategy for Product Engineering across squads
- Provide technical direction on major projects ensuring scalability, flexibility, resilience, and security
- Embed into delivery teams for architectural leadership on large initiatives as needed
- Coordinate with programme managers and product owners to align decisions, sequencing, and dependencies
- Act as technical escalation point for cross-squad architectural decisions
- Drive standardisation, governance, and specialisation across Product Engineering, Data & AI, and Cloud Engineering
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Data & AI architecture to guide cross-org technical decisions
- Oversight of third-party delivery partners to ensure alignment with architecture standards
- Co-own the community of best practice for AI-enabled PDLC across the three organisations
- Identify and address domain-specific AI use cases as part of the shared PDLC model
- Champion AI-assisted development tools and practices
- Define and anchor the specialist career pathway and levels for deep technical specialists
Key requirements
- 12+ years in software engineering
- 5+ years in architecture or senior technical leadership
- Proven experience as a solution/technical architect across multiple teams
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, microservices, API design, SOA, and cloud-native patterns (Azure)
- Experience defining technical standards, governance, and engineering best practice
- Architect on large multi-team programmes, engaging with managers, owners, and external partners
- Track record of taking AI/GenAI from prototype to production systems
- Understanding of multi-agent AI design and operation in production
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and production retrieval pipelines
- Experience leading AI-enabled PDLC and integrating AI into software development
- Ability to converse with senior technical and business stakeholders and lead across disciplines
