Advise on employment and benefit related legal matters, providing the Legal and People Teams guidance to drive compliance with applicable labour and employment laws both within and outside the UK. This role will primarily focus on support for matters across the EMEA region, as well as support for APAC. Areas of support include leaves of absence and accommodations, discipline and terminations, compensation, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, workplace discrimination and harassment, benefits, immigration and mobility, employee relations issues (including grievances and internal investigations), contingent worker compliance, and health and safety

Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising employee policies, procedures, and work rules, and advise on their application and enforcement

Draft and revise employment-related templates (including offer letters, employment agreements, settlement agreements and separation agreements)

Support cross-border employment issues and collaborate with others on the Law and People Teams on global projects

Maintain current knowledge of new and developing employment laws impacting Fastly and its workforce and make recommendations to ensure compliance with changes in the law

Partner with the Legal Director, Global Employment Law to develop and implement scalable employment policies, processes and training across all of Fastly’s locations

Supervise outside counsel on employment or benefits issues requiring law firm support

What We\’re Looking For

Qualified lawyer in a UK jurisdiction, ideally with 5-7 years of post qualification employment law experience, including both law firm practice and in-house legal experience (at least 3-4 years in-house preferred)

Robust experience independently counselling a human resources team supporting a global workforce on day-to-day employment issues

Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; ability to assess risks and convey clear and decisive advice to internal colleagues

Thorough knowledge of UK employment laws, with experience advising on employment matters in one or more of the following locations: Germany, Spain, Sweden, France, Singapore, Australia, and/or Japan

Experience working with works councils and advising on works council matters.

A collegial self-starter who makes independent progress on complex and challenging projects and exercises excellent judgement in raising issues and when collaborating

A pragmatic and practical approach to problem solving and getting things done

High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision

Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; ability to assess risks and convey clear and decisive advice to internal colleagues

The estimated salary range for this position is £120,000 – £135,000

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours, with flexibility to adjust hours for work supporting APAC as needed.
