Fasthosts is looking for an experienced, commercially minded legal professional to join us as Manager, Legal Counsel on a contract basis providing maternity cover until August 2027. You’ll lead a small UK legal team, act as our UK Data Protection Officer, and provide practical, business‑focused legal support across Fasthosts and IONOS Cloud. This role offers a great mix of hands‑on legal work, team leadership and collaboration with colleagues across the UK and Europe.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage, mentor and support the UK Legal team
  • Act as the UK Data Protection Officer, overseeing GDPR/UK DPA compliance and advising on privacy risks
  • Work closely with Group Legal to align on contracts, regulatory matters and wider Group initiatives
  • Advise on commercial agreements (cloud/hosting, software licensing, strategic suppliers)
  • Support on UK regulatory areas including consumer law, IP, competition and sanctions
  • Lead UK compliance activities (anti‑bribery, modern slavery) and contribute to corporate governance
  • Identify legal and regulatory risks and provide clear, practical solutions

What experience do you need under your belt?

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent (CILEX considered)
  • Strong in‑house experience
  • Experience managing or mentoring legal professionals (even if informally - we are happy to consider someone looking to step up)
  • Solid commercial contracting experience (Tech/SaaS/Hosting experience useful)
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK DPA and confidence to act as DPO
  • Excellent stakeholder and cross‑team collaboration skills
