Fasthosts is looking for an experienced, commercially minded legal professional to join us as Manager, Legal Counsel providing maternity cover until August 2027. You’ll lead a small UK legal team, act as our UK Data Protection Officer, and provide practical, business‑focused legal support across Fasthosts and IONOS Cloud. This role offers a great mix of hands‑on legal work, team leadership and collaboration with colleagues across the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor and support the UK Legal team
- Act as the UK Data Protection Officer, overseeing GDPR/UK DPA compliance and advising on privacy risks
- Work closely with Group Legal to align on contracts, regulatory matters and wider Group initiatives
- Advise on commercial agreements (cloud/hosting, software licensing, strategic suppliers)
- Support on UK regulatory areas including consumer law, IP, competition and sanctions
- Lead UK compliance activities (anti‑bribery, modern slavery) and contribute to corporate governance
- Identify legal and regulatory risks and provide clear, practical solutions
Experience and qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or equivalent (CILEX considered)
- Strong in‑house experience
- Experience managing or mentoring legal professionals (even if informally - we are happy to consider someone looking to step up)
- Solid commercial contracting experience (Tech/SaaS/Hosting experience useful)
- Strong knowledge of GDPR/UK DPA and confidence to act as DPO
- Excellent stakeholder and cross‑team collaboration skills
