While you’ll have heard our name, there’s a lot you probably don’t know about NEXT. Like how we facilitate eCommerce for numerous other brands that don’t have the scale and know-how we do. And that after over 40 years, we’re growing faster than ever.
The Role
In Product Systems, we don’t just build tools, we build the intelligent engines that power NEXT’s journey from concept to customer. We work hand-in-hand with our Designers, Buyers, and Merchandisers, leveraging AI-driven insights and automation to transform raw ideas into the products our customers love - faster and smarter than ever before.
We never stand still. Our mission is to evolve our ecosystem by integrating Generative AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics into our everyday services. We are a collective of tech enthusiasts who thrive on pushing boundaries and answering the ‘what-ifs’. Working with us means deep immersion in cutting-edge tech while tackling the ultimate puzzle: modernising legacy systems with future-proof intelligence. We see older code not as a burden, but as a foundation waiting for a modern upgrade. If you enjoy the challenge of refactoring the past to make way for a smarter future, you’ll fit right in.
We promise an environment that is never dull, backed by the freedom to experiment. Want to pilot a new LLM-based assistant for our Technologists? Or suggest a neural network to optimize our supply chain processes? Go for it. We provide the support and the sandbox—you provide the initiative.
What You’ll Take On:
Technology drives what we do. Plain and simple. As we undergo a massive digital transformation, we need a solid team committed to driving our tech forward. We are currently recruiting at both Trainee and Developer levels to help us lead this charge. Your focus will be on the end-to-end journey, translating business requirements into clean code, developing new concepts, testing, deploying, and supporting the applications that keep NEXT moving.
You’ll provide essential programming and analytical skills across a range of platforms, ensuring our systems are robust and scalable. Working closely with other tech teams, you'll help improve cross-team resolution of issues and provide support for high-impact project work and key business events. You’ll be encouraged to proactively improve your existing skills, mastering new technical tools (including AI and automation) as they emerge, while continuously expanding your business knowledge.
You’ll be doing all this from our Leicestershire Head Office, a fast-paced, encouraging, and supportive environment in which everyone brings an energy and a commitment to delivering for our customers and their own careers. Bring your energy. Play to your strengths. Make things bigger and better than before. Let's Take It On.
What You’ll Bring:
- You’re self-motivated and eager to learn, with a self-motivated attitude to handle any new challenge.
- Your ambition is clear through your passion for analytical and programming skills and commitment to building a great career.
- Your problem solving skills to translate a business requirement into a deliverable software.
