About the role

The Deputy SENCO will lead the operational delivery of the EFI Group’s learning support (SEND) provision, ensuring an inclusive, high-quality offer that enables all students to reach their full potential. Working closely with the Head of Learning Progression, the post holder will manage the Learning Support Team, including learning support and teaching assistant staff, and ensure practice is research-informed and aligned with current best practice. The successful candidate will be supported to complete the NASENCO qualification and will act as Deputy SENCO for the EFI Group. As a member of the Student Services Senior Management Team, the role also includes responsibilities as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

About you

  • Qualifications: NASENCO qualification (or willingness to complete one upon appointment), with relevant specialist training and safeguarding credentials.
  • Experience: Substantial experience managing teams and supporting learners with SEND, including oversight of referrals and EHCP processes.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding, and improving outcomes for students with SEND aged 16+.
  • Values: A commitment to enabling all learners to achieve their potential, regardless of starting point.
