About EFI Group

EFI Group has a bold mission to transform lives, careers and industries through pioneering, industry-led education in fashion, beauty and apprenticeships. Our vision is to deliver exceptional learning experiences, driven by innovation, inclusion, employability, and excellence.

About the role

This is a senior management role within the Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) department, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for quality assurance, assessment and academic standards across Education for Industry Group. The role has a broad Group-wide remit, providing oversight and assurance across Further Education, Higher Education and Apprenticeships; provision from Levels 2-7; and EFI's diverse range of academic, vocational, practical, creative, competency-based and work-based programmes.

Operating across the Fashion Retail Academy (FRA), London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT) and Education for Industry Training (EFIT), the postholder will ensure that academic and vocational standards are secure and that assessment and quality assurance arrangements remain robust, fair, reliable and compliant.

The postholder will lead organisational assurance across assessment, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA), External Quality Assurance (EQA), academic standards, academic integrity and misconduct, academic appeals, Progression and Award Boards, and associated regulatory compliance and quality risk.

A key requirement of the role is to establish appropriate consistency of standards and assurance across EFI Group, whilst recognising that quality assurance and assessment arrangements must remain appropriately differentiated according to subject, level, qualification type and regulatory requirements.

The role will act as a principal point of escalation for complex or high-risk matters relating to assessment and academic standards and will provide senior assurance reporting on standards, compliance and risk. The postholder will work closely with the Associate Director QAE and will deputise as required, providing continuity of senior QAE leadership and strengthening organisational resilience.

About you

An Internal Quality Assurance/Verifier qualification is desirable, alongside relevant continuing professional development.
  • Experience: Significant experience of quality assurance, assessment and/or academic standards within Further Education, Higher Education, Apprenticeships or a similarly complex education or training environment. Experience of working with awarding organisations, validating partners, External Examiners, External Quality Assurers and/or other external quality bodies, alongside experience of leading complex quality assurance activity, managing quality and academic standards risks, and supporting academic integrity, academic misconduct, malpractice and/or academic appeals processes.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge and practical understanding of assessment quality assurance, including Internal Quality Assurance, moderation, verification and/or standardisation. Strong understanding of valid, reliable, fair and consistent assessment and the assurance of academic and vocational standards, with knowledge of relevant regulatory and quality frameworks applicable to EFI Group provision.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, leadership and staff management skills, with the ability to provide authoritative advice, professional challenge, produce evidence-led reports, analyse quality information, manage competing priorities and exercise sound professional judgement when managing complex, confidential or high-risk matters.
  • Values: A demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement and to using quality assurance intelligence to strengthen standards and organisational practice.
