ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of engineering and consultancy projects, typically up to £2M in value. You will manage project scope, programme, risks, resources, information flow and financial performance whilst supporting client satisfaction and technical excellence. Working under the direction of a Senior Project Manager and / or Project Principal, you will coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure delivery is aligned with contractual requirements, project objectives and HDR quality management processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Delivery
- Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of projects, typically up to £2M in value.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules and resource plans.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Monitor progress against programme and implement corrective actions where required
Scope & Change Management
- Develop and maintain clear project scopes, assumptions and deliverables.
- Identify and manage scope changes and additional service requirements.
- Maintain project change registers and support preparation of change proposals and contract amendments.
- Ensure project teams understand and work within agreed contractual scope.
- Facilitate project risk identification and assessment.
- Maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Escalate significant risks and issues to senior management as appropriate.
- Promote proactive risk management throughout project delivery.
- Monitor project budgets, resource utilisation and forecasts.
- Support invoicing, project reporting and financial reviews.
- Track project performance against budget and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support achievement of project financial and operational objectives
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Develop positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate project meetings, workshops and reviews.
- Ensure actions, decisions and deliverables are effectively communicated and recorded.
- Support client satisfaction through responsive and professional project management
Quality & Information Management
- Ensure compliance with HDR Quality Management Systems and project procedures.
- Coordinate document control, transmittals and project records.
- Support project reviews, quality audits and lessons learned activities.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and direction to project delivery teams.
- Support effective collaboration across disciplines.
- Assist with mentoring and development of junior staff.
- Promote a positive, safe and inclusive working environment
Project Closeout
- Manage project closeout activities.
- Ensure completion of contractual deliverables.
- Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure project records are archived in accordance with company requirements
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Strong organisation, communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to co-ordinate across disciplines and manage competing priorities in a delivery environment.
- Comfortable supporting meeting management (actions/decisions) and information control (transmittals/registers).
- Positive, professional attitude with a collaborative working style.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- 7 years related experience; minimum 2 years project management experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards CEng.
