The primary duty of the Finance Assistant is providing support for all aspects related to corporate finance. This includes taking ownership of cash reporting, month end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations and tax payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile bank accounts and compile supporting files for balance sheet reviews.
  • Prepare and post journals for recurring and ad hoc entries.
  • Review credit card statements and obtain receipts for all transactions.
  • Manage direct debit process; obtaining invoices, coding and posting to general ledger.
  • Submit requests for statutory and ad hoc payments (PAYE, corporation tax, etc.).
  • Collaborate with corporate Treasury team, answering queries and supporting projects.
  • Assist with preparation of cash forecast, including for board meetings.
  • Provide support to the external and internal audit processes.
  • Generate month end reports from Hyperion and SmartView.
  • Support day to day project accounting activities to the Area Regional Accounting Manager as required.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Finance and Accounting Manager as required.
  • Ensure Finance Assistant processes are documented and reviewed regularly.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Currently studying for Finance or Accounting degree or qualification.
  • Competency in MS Office, specifically Excel.
  • Must be a team player, willing to step into the wider team roles when required.
  • Understanding of processes and ability to work within a framework to make things happen.
  • Analytic with strong academic background.
  • Structured and organised in their approach.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • A good communicator and collaborate effectively with a broad range of non-financial staff.
  • Able to work comfortably in an agile environment with the ability to make rapid decisions in a fast-moving company.
