Our Culture

We are strong believers in meritocracy, and we seek to reward people based on impact and excellence.

There is no bureaucracy, typical of large organisations.

The environment is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and trust based.

We set ambitious goals, work extremely hard, stress the importance of teamwork, and adhere to the highest level of excellence in everything we do.

We are only as good as our team.

Thus, we are building the firm around exceptional talent.

About Fasanara Fund Controllers Team

The Fund Controllers team sits within Fasanara’s Operations function and is responsible for maintaining robust financial and operational control across the firm’s funds and investment vehicles.

The team works across all of Fasanara’s main strategies — Alternative Credit, Venture Capital, Quant and Tokenisation — providing a central control function between the Investment teams, external fund administrators and the firm’s wider infrastructure.

Our objective is not simply to review NAVs produced by third-party administrators.

We aim to develop a deep understanding of each fund, its investments and its financial position, allowing us to independently challenge valuations, reconciliations, fees, expenses and other components of the NAV, and to ensure issues are identified and resolved promptly.

As Fasanara continues to launch new products and expand into new strategies, the Fund Controllers team is expected to grow with the business rather than simply add manual capacity.

Our goal is to build processes and systems that allow us to support an increasingly broad and complex investment platform while maintaining strong controls, shortening NAV cycles and providing reliable operational support to the Investment teams and the wider firm.

About the Role

The role sits within the Fund Controllers vertical and provides broad exposure across the firm’s investment strategies, including Alternative Credit, Venture Capital, Quant and Tokenisation.

Within Alternative Credit, this includes a diverse range of underlying asset classes and strategies such as r eceivables, consumer lending, sports finance, real estate and CLOs, providing an opportunity to develop experience across a wide range of fund structures, investment types and valuation methodologies.

This is a hands-on role combining fund control, data analysis, process improvement and technology .

You will work closely with third-party administrators and other service providers, while partnering internally with the Investment, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Technology and wider Operations teams.

The environment is fast-paced and constantly evolving.

We are therefore looking for someone who is highly analytical, comfortable working with large volumes of data and keen to understand how funds and their underlying investments work, rather than simply operating established processes.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Review and control fund NAVs, working closely with third-party administrators to ensure calculations are complete, accurate and appropriately supported.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the funds and their underlying investments in order to challenge valuations, accruals, fees and other NAV components where appropriate.
  • Perform and oversee reconciliations of investments, cash, income and other balance sheet items, investigating and resolving differences.
  • Track and control fund-level capital activity, including subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, distributions, FX and allocations.
  • Assist with the processing, monitoring and control of fund expenses, including invoices, accruals, allocations and reimbursements.
  • Support the operational and accounting treatment of investments across a broad range of asset classes, from private credit and venture capital investments to CLOs, quantitative strategies and tokenised assets.
  • Coordinate with auditors, administrators and other service providers throughout the financial statement audit process, ensuring information and supporting documentation are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with Investment, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Operations colleagues to ensure that new transactions, structures and products are appropriately reflected within the funds’ operational and accounting processes.
  • Analyse large and complex datasets, identifying inconsistencies, exceptions and potential control issues.
  • Work closely with our Technology team to continue developing Fasanara’s internal loan and fund management platform, helping define and continuously improve its workflows, controls and integrations.

You will bring an operational and fund-control perspective to system development, identifying opportunities to automate processes, strengthen controls and reduce manual intervention as the platform and the business evolve.

  • Build and enhance Excel-based controls, reconciliations and analytical tools, using VBA and other functionality to reduce manual work and operational risk.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to automate, simplify and improve workflows, rather than accepting inefficient processes as they are.
  • Help strengthen the documentation and control framework of the Fund Controllers team as Fasanara’s platform and range of strategies continue to grow.

Requirements

  • Preferably up to 3 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund audit, fund operations or another role providing equivalent exposure.
  • A strong analytical mindset, with an interest in understanding the economics of investments and how they ultimately flow through a fund’s NAV and financial statements.
  • Strong numerical skills and the ability to work confidently with large volumes of data, identify anomalies and investigate discrepancies.
  • Advanced Excel skills and an interest in using technology to solve operational problems.

Experience with VBA, including automating files, building controls and designing bespoke analytical reports, is particularly valuable.

  • A good understanding of investment funds and fund accounting. Exposure to alternative investments, private credit or venture capital would be beneficial.
  • A process-improvement mindset: someone who naturally looks for ways to make processes more efficient, scalable and robust.
  • Strong attention to detail and a control-oriented approach, without losing sight of the commercial purpose of the activity.
  • Comfortable working independently, taking ownership and managing multiple competing priorities in a high-pace, high-noise environment.
  • The ability and willingness to learn quickly.

Fasanara operates across several different and evolving strategies, and we do not expect candidates to arrive with experience in all of them.

  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to interact with internal stakeholders, administrators, auditors and other external service providers.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or progress towards one, is a plus but not a requirement.
  • What Excites Us

We particularly value people who are curious, resourceful and intellectually engaged with what they are doing. The ideal candidate will not simply reconcile numbers or review an administrator’s output, but will want to understand why the numbers look the way they do, how the underlying investments work and how the process could be improved .

You should enjoy working with data and be comfortable using Excel creatively to turn large datasets into useful controls, reports and automated workflows.

Equally importantly, you should be comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where new funds, products and strategies regularly create problems that do not yet have an established playbook .

This role should suit someone looking for significantly broader exposure than a traditional fund accounting position, with the opportunity to work across

Alternative Credit, Venture Capital, Quant and Tokenisation within the same platform.
