The Role: We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our client. The position will lead to further growth as the company makes progress in new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Produce timely and accurate management accounts and statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and regulatory requirements relevant to the manufacturing and construction supply sectors.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control: Lead the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting cycles, with a strong focus on cost control, product margins, and project-based profitability to support strategic decision-making.
- Cash Flow, Working Capital & Inventory Management: Manage cash flow and working capital efficiently, including tight control over inventory levels, debtor collections, and supplier terms to ensure liquidity in a cyclical industry.
- Operational Finance & Process Improvement: Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to drive process improvements, implement robust internal controls, and optimise financial systems to support scalability and margin protection.
Desirable Skills:
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in manufacturing, construction supply, or project-based environments with a strong understanding of cost accounting and supply chain finance.
- ERP & Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and strong Excel skills; ability to drive system improvements and reporting automation.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial insight with the ability to interpret financial data to influence business decisions, pricing strategies, and operational efficiency.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, and effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders across departments.
