A small but thriving manufacturing business based in Canterbury is looking for an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to join the team initially for six months, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
This is a hands‑on, varied position combining core transactional accounting with some management accounting responsibilities. You'll be working closely with the wider business and will need to be comfortable taking ownership and hitting the ground running.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing the sales and purchase ledgers
- Processing and overseeing payroll for approximately 30 employees
- Preparing basic monthly management accounts
- Posting journals and making accounting adjustments
- Bank reconciliations and other month‑end activities
- Supporting the wider finance function as required
- Working with Sage Line 50
About you:
- Experienced Assistant Accountant or Management Accountant
- Strong transactional accounting background
- Confident working across ledgers, payroll and month‑end
- Experience using Sage Line 50 is highly desirable
- Manufacturing or SME experience would be advantageous, but is not essential
- Practical, hands‑on and able to work with minimal supervision
- Based within a commutable distance of Canterbury
- Access to a car is essential
The opportunity:
A salary equivalent to £40,000, initially on a six‑month basis, with a genuine possibility of moving to a permanent role thereafter.
