Farrer Barnes is working on behalf of a rapidly growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in Rochester, who are looking to appoint an Accounts Semi Senior to join their expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated accounts professional to develop their career within a forward-thinking practice.
You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, providing a broad range of accounting, management accounts and tax services.
The Role
As an Accounts Semi Senior, you will play an important role in supporting clients and the wider accounts team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Management Accounts: Preparing timely and accurate management accounts and financial information for a diverse portfolio of SME clients.
- Statutory Accounts: Assisting with the preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Tax Returns: Preparing Corporation Tax computations and Self-Assessment Tax Returns for directors and companies, ready for review by the Corporate Tax Manager.
- Client & HMRC Liaison: Building strong relationships with clients and communicating with HMRC on their behalf, resolving queries and ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes, systems and workflows to increase efficiency across the team.
- Training & Development: Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team, helping to create a collaborative and supportive working environment.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Experience: At least 3 years' experience working in an accountancy practice, with strong experience in accounts and management accounts.
- Qualifications: AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, alongside a good working knowledge of tax legislation and regulations.
- Cloud Accounting: Experience using cloud-based accounting software is essential, with Quick Books and Xero experience particularly desirable.
- Approach: An energetic, ambitious and proactive attitude, with a genuine commitment to professional and personal development.
- Mindset: A growth mindset and the ability to work collaboratively while managing your own workload and meeting deadlines.
