Private Client Tax Manager

Full-Time No working from home possible
Farrer Barnes Limited Careers

We are working with a prominent and highly regarded accountancy practice in South West Kent that is looking to appoint an experienced Private Client Tax Manager to join its growing tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded tax professional who is looking for a varied role combining compliance, advisory and project work, with significant client contact and the opportunity to work closely with Partners.

The Role

As Private Client Tax Manager, you will take responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of private clients, providing a high-quality service across both compliance and advisory matters.

Your role will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, business owners, entrepreneurs and other private clients.
  • Overseeing the preparation and review of personal tax returns and associated compliance work.
  • Providing practical tax advice across a broad range of private client matters.
  • Supporting clients and Partners with tax planning and advisory projects.
  • Working on ad hoc tax projects, including succession, capital gains, inheritance tax and wider personal tax planning.
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Working closely with the Partners on complex client matters and new business opportunities.
  • Reviewing work prepared by more junior members of the team and providing guidance and support where required.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the private client tax offering.

The Clients

One of the attractions of this position is the interesting and varied client portfolio. You will have exposure to a broad range of private clients, with the opportunity to work on both recurring compliance and more bespoke advisory assignments.

The role offers plenty of variety and is well suited to someone who enjoys understanding a client's wider circumstances rather than simply dealing with their annual tax return.

About You

We are looking for an experienced private client tax professional with a strong technical grounding and a genuine interest in advisory work.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong experience within a UK accountancy practice or professional services environment.
  • Solid private client tax experience across compliance and advisory.
  • Experience managing your own portfolio of clients.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The confidence to work directly with clients and Partners.
  • A commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
  • Ideally, ACA, CTA or equivalent professional qualification, although relevant experience will also be considered.

What's on Offer

This is a genuinely broad role within an established and well-regarded practice, offering the opportunity to work with an interesting client base and become a key member of the private client team.

The firm offers excellent support, professional development and clear opportunities for progression, alongside the chance to work closely with experienced Partners and take on increasing responsibility.

Salary: Β£60,000 – Β£80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

If you are an experienced private client tax professional looking for a role offering a strong blend of compliance, advisory, client management and progression, this could be an excellent next step.
