Accounts Semi-Senior in Maidstone

Farrer Barnes is delighted to be working with a growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in Maidstone, who are looking to strengthen their team with the appointment of an Accounts Semi Senior.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional to join a progressive practice and work with a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad range of accounting and taxation work, including statutory accounts, management accounts and tax compliance.

The Role

As an Accounts Semi Senior, your responsibilities will include:

• Management Accounts: Preparing accurate and timely management accounts for a diverse portfolio of SME clients.
• Statutory Accounts: Assisting with the preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
• Tax Returns: Preparing corporation tax computations and self-assessment tax returns for individuals and companies, ready for review by the Corporate Tax Manager.
• Client & HMRC Liaison: Building strong relationships with clients and communicating with HMRC to resolve queries and ensure all relevant compliance requirements are met.
• Process Improvement: Identifying ways to improve internal processes, systems and workflows to increase efficiency across the team.
• Supporting Junior Staff: Helping to train and develop more junior members of the team, contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment.

About You

The successful Accounts Semi Senior will ideally have:

• Experience: At least three years' experience within an accountancy practice, with solid exposure to accounts and management accounts.
• Qualifications: AAT qualified, part-qualified, ACA/ACCA studier, qualified by experience, or working towards a relevant accounting qualification.
• Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, alongside a good working knowledge of taxation.
• Cloud Accounting Experience: Experience using cloud-based accounting software is essential, with knowledge of Xero and QuickBooks particularly desirable.
• Approach: An energetic, ambitious and motivated attitude, with a genuine desire to develop your career and continue building your technical expertise.
• Communication: The confidence to work directly with clients and contribute positively as part of a wider team.
