We are currently recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join a small but growing business on a 6-month interim basis.
This is a hands-on role that will suit an accountant who is comfortable operating across both management accounting and day-to-day transactional finance. You will play an important role within the business, supporting the continued growth of the finance function while overseeing one junior member of staff.
The Role
Working closely with the senior management team, you will take responsibility for a broad range of accounting and finance activities, including:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Month-end processes, including reconciliations, journals and accruals
- Management of purchase and sales ledger activities
- Bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Responsibility for the monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll submissions
- Liaising with relevant external payroll providers or advisers where required
- Supporting cash flow management and forecasting
- Monitoring and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with budgeting and variance analysis
- Overseeing and supporting one junior member of the finance team
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
- Providing general financial support to the wider business as required
About You
We are looking for a qualified or part-qualified accountant, or an experienced Management Accountant with a strong practical grounding in finance.
- You will be comfortable working in a small business environment, where a hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in transactional activities are essential. You will also have the confidence to work independently, manage priorities and provide support and guidance to a junior colleague.
- Experience of payroll processing is important, alongside a good understanding of wider transactional finance.
- Experience of Sage Line 50 would be a distinct advantage.
Due to the location of the business, applicants will need to be based locally and have access to their own car.
The successful candidate will also need to be available at short notice, as this is an interim appointment with an immediate requirement.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business during an exciting period of development. The role offers genuine variety and responsibility, with the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the finance function from day one.
If you are an experienced, hands-on Management Accountant who enjoys working in a smaller business environment, is confident with transactional finance and payroll, and is available for an interim assignment, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
