The Internal Sales Manager is responsible for structuring and leading the Internal sales team to maximise productivity and efficiency within the sales department. Accurate sales reporting to identify trends and react accordingly for people, process optimisation, systems, planning, and playing a pivotal role in scaling the business.
Working cross functionally with all departments, this role is responsible for developing and implementing an end-to-end transactional sales infrastructure from the ground up, centred around effective use of company CRM & ERP systems, to enable the delivery of budgeted sales and margin growth. Reporting directly to, and actively supporting the Sales & Marketing Director, the Internal Sales Manager will provide leadership, management, coaching and development to the internal sales team, encouraging empowerment and ownership.
Requirements
- Proven background in internal sales or sales operations within the construction or built‑environment sector, or a closely related technical industry such as engineering or manufacturing, involving complex, project‑based sales and multiple stakeholder engagement.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Internal Sales Manager, Sales Operations Manager or similar role, ideally within high‑growth SMEs handling high volumes of enquiries.
- Demonstrable, hands‑on experience of building, scaling and optimising an internal sales function, including designing sales infrastructure, processes, systems and ways of working from the ground up.
- Strong experience driving process improvement, automation and efficiency, using CRM, ERP and supporting technologies to improve performance, accuracy and customer experience.
- Proven ability to lead change and embed new ways of working, with a continuous improvement mindset and a practical, delivery‑focused approach.
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across sales, operations, finance, IT and senior leadership.
- Strong people leadership capability, including building and leading teams, coaching and developing individuals, setting targets, managing performance and embedding a high‑performance, customer‑focused culture.
- Highly analytical and data‑driven, with proven experience using sales reporting, KPIs and insights to evaluate performance, inform decisions and support business growth.
- Strong customer‑centric mindset, with a passion for delivering reliable, efficient and high‑quality service in a commercial, project‑driven environment.
Desirable experience and qualities
- Experience within construction, engineering, industrial, or technical manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to international or multi‑region sales operations.
- Hands‑on experience using SAP B1 and Power BI.
- Strong working knowledge of CRM systems, ideally HubSpot.
