Our client, a commercial law firm in London, is looking to recruit a Planning lawyer of 0 to 2 years’ PQE. The team acts for a broad client base including:
- residential and mixed-use developers
- leading retailers
- corporate occupiers
- contractors
- charities
- investors
- funders
- the NHS
- local authorities
- Government bodies
The types of work will include:
- assisting in providing strategic and tactical advice on securing planning permission
- drafting and negotiating statutory agreements
- village greens
- auditing planning application documents and committee reports to assist clients with risk management
- appeals
- judicial review
- enforcement
- undertaking due diligence in relation to the planning aspects of real estate funding and corporate transactions
- special protection areas

Any knowledge of EIA, CIL and GLA planning would be useful. You will have the opportunity to develop your own caseload (with appropriate level of Partner supervision, depending on your PQE) as well as assisting senior members of the firm on a range of development related matters. You will also assist with the business development and marketing activities of the department and be encouraged to develop a network of contacts both internally and externally.
If you are already qualified, you will have experience in at least some of the following:
- planning and highways law
- drafting of complex s106 Agreements, highway agreements, land development agreements, complex planning due diligence reports
- working on planning led regeneration projects
- advising on planning judicial review
- conducting planning appeals and presenting at planning committees
Newly-qualified applicants will ideally have undertaken a seat in Planning law.
