Well-regarded commercial law firm in Leeds is seeking to recruit two non-contentious Construction lawyers – one of 0 to 2 and the other of 4 or more years’ PQE. The construction & engineering team advises on all types of projects for developers, contractors, housebuilders and retailers and are involved with construction projects of regional and national significance. Their clients operate in many sectors, including:
- retail
- distribution and logistics
- chemicals
- food and process engineering
- education
- healthcare
- sport
Key responsibilities for both roles include:
- working closely with partners in the team to draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of complex construction and engineering contracts, such as framework agreements, call-off contracts, consultant appointments and pre-construction service agreements, based on NEC4 standard forms, as well as bespoke forms of contracts;
- attending client meetings with partners;
- assisting with developing fee proposals and/or preparation of tender documents;
- management of your own caseload (with an appropriate level of supervision depending on your level of PQE).
The successful candidates will be keen to develop their skills in this area of law within a leading regional team that undertakes national work, interacting effectively with colleagues and clients at every level and across other practice areas (for example, commercial property), as well as actively engaging in business development and supporting the development of junior members of the team.
Applicants for this role will have a real passion for the law and a solid experience or foundation (depending on your PQE) in non-contentious construction work, in addition to having the following:
- ambition to develop the existing client relationships and build and grow a network of clients within the area of construction and engineering law;
- excellent inter-personal skills and a confident manner in engaging with clients and colleagues;
- a strong team work ethic and the ability to work effectively under pressure;
- drive, commitment, self-motivation and a “can do” attitude;
- exceptional attention to detail.
