Large commercial law firm in the City is looking to recruit an IP Litigation Solicitor or Barrister of 2 or more years’ PQE/Call. The IP Group is highly ranked with market leading practices in both brand IP and in IP disputes in emerging technologies. It also has significant niche expertise in design law and trade secrets/confidential information and is a challenger brand in patent litigation. Furthermore, the IP Group is instructed on a large number of high-profile trademark portfolios. In this year alone, the team has acted on several of the most significant recent IP disputes.
As an associate within the IP team, you will work across high-profile IP disputes in both the High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. The work will include IP portfolio matters and trade mark/design contentious registry proceedings before the tribunals and courts. You will also be responsible for managing your own client portfolio across trademark matters. Whilst the role is predominantly contentious, there are elements of non-contentious IP work and responsibilities include:
- Managing workstreams and assisting with essential stages of IP disputes: briefing counsel, running disclosure exercises, preparing witness statements, expert reports, and preparing for trial.
- Corresponding with clients, counsel, witnesses, experts, and third parties.
- Involvement in strategy discussions with clients and counsel.
- Drafting inter-solicitor correspondence.
- Drafting standalone advice on any and all IP issues (e.g., from trade mark validity to copyright infringement).
- Managing your own clients’ trade mark portfolios and advising on prospects.
Applicants will have gained experience in IP Disputes at a well-regarded commercial law firm, ideally including trademark and copyright experience.
