Our client, a commercial law firm in Southampton, is looking to recruit a Shipping lawyer of 0 to 3 years’ PQE to work on a broad mix of high-quality Shipping matters, including both transactional work and complex disputes, often with an international element. The successful candidate will work on a diverse caseload, including:

  • vessel transactions;
  • financing arrangements;
  • contentious matters such as Admiralty Court Claims;
  • arbitration.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • managing and developing a varied caseload on transactional, finance and contentious Shipping matters;
  • supporting matters involving vessel sale and purchase, financing, charter arrangements and disputes;
  • drafting legal documentation, including transactional documents and dispute-related materials;
  • responding to new client enquiries and supporting cross-referral opportunities within the firm;
  • contributing to business development and marketing initiatives.

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • be a qualified Solicitor (NQ – 3 PQE) with experience in marine finance and/or marine disputes, or a related field;
  • have strong technical and drafting skills with attention to detail;
  • have commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused approach;
  • have excellent communication skills;
  • have an ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • be a pro-active and collaborative team player;
  • have an interest in business development and building client relationships.
