Our client, a commercial law firm in Southampton, is looking to recruit a Shipping lawyer of 0 to 3 years’ PQE to work on a broad mix of high-quality Shipping matters, including both transactional work and complex disputes, often with an international element.
The successful candidate will work on a diverse caseload, including:
- vessel transactions;
- financing arrangements;
- contentious matters such as Admiralty Court Claims;
- arbitration.
Key responsibilities will include:
- managing and developing a varied caseload on transactional, finance and contentious Shipping matters;
- supporting matters involving vessel sale and purchase, financing, charter arrangements and disputes;
- drafting legal documentation, including transactional documents and dispute-related materials;
- responding to new client enquiries and supporting cross-referral opportunities within the firm;
- contributing to business development and marketing initiatives.
The successful candidate will ideally:
- be a qualified Solicitor (NQ – 3 PQE) with experience in marine finance and/or marine disputes, or a related field;
- have strong technical and drafting skills with attention to detail;
- have commercial awareness and a practical, solutions-focused approach;
- have excellent communication skills;
- have an ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- be a pro-active and collaborative team player;
- have an interest in business development and building client relationships.
