We are seeking an experienced and reliable Skilled Operative to join our civil engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality site works, ensuring safety standards are met, and supporting the smooth delivery of projects across all sections.
Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide range of site tasks including groundworks, concreting, drainage, kerbing, paving, and reinstatement.
- Operate small plant and machinery (e.g., rollers, dumpers, breakers) in line with training and certification.
- Assist with the installation of services and utilities.
- Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Comply with site safety rules, RAMS, and company procedures.
- Carry out quality checks and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Support colleagues and supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in good working order.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Skilled Operative in civil engineering, construction, or highways.
- Competent in a variety of groundworks and reinstatement techniques.
- Ability to read and follow site drawings and instructions.
- Strong awareness of health & safety on site.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable but not always essential
- CPCS / NPORS plant tickets (e.g., Dumper, Roller, 360 Excavator).
- Street Works (NRSWA) accreditation.
- Full UK driving licence.
