Hours of Work: M-F 07:30 -16:00 (15:00 Friday)

Your new company is one of the leading suppliers in their industry of crafted manufactured products in the UK. The Production specialist team is undergoing a period of growth and is now looking for an experienced Upholsterer to join their team.

To succeed in this role, it is important that you are quality conscious, both in respect of your own work and that of other members of the team. The department is relatively small, and as such you should be comfortable working in a small team and multitasking to support business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review demands through existing systems and ensure all activities are completed on time in full to support subsequent operations.
  • Complete all aspects of upholstery for existing and future product ranges.
  • Review bills of materials for all products and highlight issues to your supervisor.
  • Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments.
  • Operate sewing machines (Single and twin) to sew upholstery and join various sections of covering fabric.
  • Apply expert knowledge of upholstery to build (or repair) upholstered furniture using a variety of hand or power tools.
  • Work with tools and materials such as glue, staples, tacks and nail guns.
  • Assemble and quality check a wide array of products.
  • Support new product development teams to define new ranges when applicable.
  • Confer with internal customers prior to upholstery to ensure finished product meets the end clients' expectations.
  • Train new starters, including inexperienced colleagues when required.
  • Maintain a first-time quality rate exceeding 99%.
  • Familiarise yourself with the current MRP systems and use these systems to book off completed works orders / operations daily.
  • Ensure projects are completed and delivered before set deadline.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machine.
