Supporting the HR Business Partner in Shipley, this role offers a salary of circa £35,000 and a hybrid working model of 3 days in the office and 2 days home-based. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:30pm, with mandatory office attendance on Wednesdays and occasional Fridays (on a rota).

We are looking for someone for a 4-month cover to support the Regional People Business Partner by providing basic guidance and advice on maternity and paternity, performance, and absence to our team members. You will need to be confident and a good communicator. A retail HR background would be preferable, but we need someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get started from day one.

As HR Advisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting colleague engagement, retention, absence, inductions, training, recruitment, and succession planning.
  • Assisting the HRBP and the HR Administrator with all site HR functions, offering training and support for the team.
  • Providing support, advice, and guidance to managers, employees, and directors across the 3 West Yorkshire sites.
  • Managing the complete onboarding process for all new starters, including administering all documentation such as offer letters, contracts, and starter packs.
  • Ensuring employee records are updated in line with GDPR.
  • Logging and monitoring attendance records, updating absence reasons, and coordinating occupational health referrals.
  • Updating policies, procedures, and the handbook in accordance with current legislation.
  • Coordinating and assisting with the monitoring of all company probations and the coordination of all performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Providing a professional first point of contact to internal and external customers/employees.
  • Identifying HR-related improvements, providing a business case, and implementing where approved.
  • Overseeing driving licence/medical checks to ensure continuation of relevant permissions.
  • Updating internal HR systems.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in Retail HR would be advantageous.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Able to handle highly confidential information.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • The successful applicant will ideally be CIPD qualified at level 5 and possess excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.
  • It is essential that the job holder is experienced in managing the administration of the role while supporting and advising senior management on all aspects of HR.
