We are seeking an experienced HGV Driver specialised in plant machinery transport to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering heavy plant equipment using flatbed lorries across various locations. This role requires a professional driver with a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and excellent organisational skills to ensure timely and secure deliveries. Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed lorries for the transportation of plant machinery and heavy equipment
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules whilst adhering to legal driving hours and safety regulations
- Secure loads properly using appropriate restraints to prevent movement during transit
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in safe working order
- Maintain accurate documentation related to deliveries, including delivery notes and vehicle logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding schedules, delays, or issues during transit
- Ensure compliance with all relevant road safety laws and company policies at all times
- Assist with loading and unloading plant machinery when required, following health and safety guidelines
Requirements
- Valid HGV licence with a clean driving record recognised under UK law
- Proven experience in commercial driving, specifically with flatbed vehicles
- Delivery driver experience involving heavy or specialised equipment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to transporting heavy machinery
