Farnham Maltings is seeking an experienced freelance Trusts & Grants Bid Writer to support our fundraising ambitions on a part-time basis (1 day per week, primarily remote). Farnham Maltings is a Grade II listed cultural organisation and creative hub, and an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. We produce, present and support artistic work across theatre, craft and community practice, with a strong regional and national reputation.
The Opportunity
We are looking to appoint an experienced freelance Bid Writer to support our Development Director in delivering our trusts and grants strategy and supporting our organisational mission of "Bringing artists, makers and communities together to improve the quality of people’s lives." Priority areas for funding activity will include:
- Enabling the growth of contemporary craft through skill development, business support, and wider audience engagement.
- Facilitating opportunity around Theatre development and production and artist development opportunities.
- Supporting communities through participatory, place-based projects spanning theatre, dance, visual arts and craft.
- Supporting organisational ambitions to improve our sustainability credentials and digital infrastructure.
The Role
Working under the strategic leadership of the Development Director and with support from the Senior Management Team, you will:
- Identify and advise on relevant trusts, foundations and public funding opportunities.
- Develop a realistic funding pipeline.
- Lead or contribute to the development and writing of funding applications.
- Bring insight into working within an arts and cultural context.
About You
- A strong track record of securing significant trust and grant funding.
- Experience in arts, culture, heritage or community contexts.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively.
Practicalities
- Time commitment: equivalent to approximately 1 day per week, delivered flexibly, initially for 6 months.
- Location: Remote, with occasional meetings in Farnham.
- Contract: Freelance.
- Fee: equivalent to £250 per day. Any additional work and fees to be agreed separately.
