We’re looking for a Linen Porter to join our brilliant team at The Fish Hotel! Perched high on the beautiful Farncombe Estate, The Fish Hotel is a laid-back luxury retreat that’s full of Cotswold charm — with woodland lodges, treehouses, cabins, and contemporary hotel rooms spread across 500 acres of rolling countryside. Guests come for the views, the food, and the feeling of calm, and it’s our housekeeping team who help make every stay special.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will carry out daily laundry shift operations and ensure compliance with all policies, standards and procedures.
- Ensure control of stock and maintenance of linen pars.
- Analyse all discards of stained and torn linen, determining items that can be salvaged and maintain records of discarded linen.
- Receive deliveries and record and store them as per requirements.
- Operate all department equipment as necessary and report malfunctions.
- Supporting the cleaning of rooms will also be required at times when busy.
The role is based in and around The Fish Hotel and will include weekends. Ideally you will have some previous housekeeping experience, but full training will be provided. More important to us is a hardworking and positive attitude, an eye for detail and someone who enjoys working in a team. It would also be very useful if you are able to drive for these roles due to the spread-out nature of our accommodations at The Fish.
The details:
- 40 hours over 5 days
- 30am – 4.30pm (Monday to Sunday)
- £12.60 per hour, rising to £12.80 after one year
- Plus, service charge, meals on duty, and uniform provided
Why you’ll love working here:
- Pro rata of 30 days holiday (rising to 35 after 5 years)
- A birthday lunch on us
- Mental health first aiders & wellbeing support
- High Street discounts & cashback card
- Estate-wide discounts on dining, stays, spa products & more
- £1,000 to spend however you wish in our recognition programme
- £1,000 when you refer a friend
- Premium pay for Christmas & New Year shifts
- Optional low-cost healthcare cash plan
- Free financial planning advice
- Fully funded apprenticeships
- Career opportunities across our three award-winning hotels — The Fish, Dormy House & Foxhill Manor
We’re also proud to be a B-Corp certified business, meaning we put people, purpose, and planet at the heart of everything we do. We’re also proud members of the Hoteliers’ Charter, committed to fairness, equality, and opportunity for all — with wellbeing and career development at our core. Due to our rural location (WR12 7LJ), your own transport will be needed — but once you arrive, you’ll see why The Fish is such a special place to work. If you’re ready to join a warm, supportive team and keep our hillside hotel sparkling, we’d love to hear from you!
