We are currently looking for a dedicated and well‑motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our Learning Support team. The role will involve working with learners across the College who have a variety of education requirements and have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place. The role will include working directly with tutors and the Learning Support Teams to ensure that we meet the support needs of learners, through support in and out of class and workshop situations. Willingness to assist with personal care of learners is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a relationship and understanding of learners and provide support to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Ensure that any support given is provided at the appropriate level.
  • Report on the success, progress and achievement of learners and report any concerns to course tutors.
  • Support to engage individuals and groups of learners with their learning.
  • Work with tutors to promote and reinforce students' self‑esteem, appropriate learning behaviour and levels of effort.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of learners' support records.

Qualifications

  • Experience of having worked with young people is essential, ideally with those who have SEN.
  • Applicants should have excellent communication skills, good IT skills and a good general education including Maths and English GCSE.
