We are seeking an organised and proactive Planning & Development Coordinator to play a central role in the airport’s development activity and planning processes. Sitting within the Social Value & Planning Team, you will take day‑to‑day ownership of key planning activity, ensuring our obligations are met, our records are audit‑ready, and our engagement with stakeholders is well‑coordinated. This role is integral to the delivery of a major planning application that underpins the airport’s future growth, alongside responsibility for managing a portfolio of routine planning submissions. Key Responsibilities
- Planning
- Coordinate the preparation, organisation, and submission of documentation for a major planning application, working closely with senior colleagues and external consultants.
- Prepare and submit small‑scale planning applications relating to minor infrastructure or operational improvements.
- Maintain a structured, audit‑ready record system for all planning activity.
- Support responses to planning related queries, escalating to senior colleagues where appropriate.
- Section 106 & Planning Condition Oversight
- Manage the airport’s Section 106 and planning condition tracker, ensuring obligations, deadlines, and actions are accurately recorded and progressed.
- Coordinate Section 106 compliance reporting across internal teams, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Log and submit environmental monitoring reports produced by the Sustainability team, ensuring they are filed correctly and audit ready.
- Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Support community and stakeholder engagement, including statutory consultations.
- Work with the Marketing team to produce clear, accurate, and accessible consultation materials.
- Liaise with airport tenants and relevant community stakeholder groups on planning matters and consultation activity.
About You: Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in town planning, development management, planning compliance, or a related regulatory field (local authority or consultancy experience welcome).
- Understanding of planning legislation, planning conditions, and Section 106 obligations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain structured processes.
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with local authorities, consultants, tenants, and internal teams.
- Ability to prepare clear planning documents and non‑technical consultation materials.
- High attention to detail and a methodical approach to compliance and reporting.
- Evidence of Right to Work in the UK, full 5‑year employment/education history, and ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check.
- Full valid UK driving licence or equivalent.
Desirable:
- Experience in aviation, infrastructure, or another highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability or corporate responsibility frameworks (non‑technical).
- Experience supporting public consultation or stakeholder engagement.
- Working towards or holding RTPI accreditation (or equivalent).
